Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about LumiaDB, firmware availability, and what to do when you need help.

What is LumiaDB?

LumiaDB is a community-run archive for Lumia firmware, device metadata, and recovery resources. The goal is to keep FFUs and related files accessible even after Microsoft’s official Lumia ecosystem ended.

Why are some FFU downloads slow?

Most downloads are served through the Internet Archive, so speed depends on their mirrors, your region, and current traffic. If a download is unusually slow, trying again later or using Cloudflare WARP sometimes helps.

Why are some Windows Phone 7 firmwares still missing?

Coverage is still incomplete, especially for older Windows Phone 7 devices like the Lumia 800 and Lumia 900. Those packages are harder to preserve and catalog, so new additions depend on what the community can still recover and contribute.

Why use Internet Archive instead of self-hosting everything?

Hosting a large firmware archive directly is expensive. Internet Archive makes it possible to keep files public and reachable without putting the entire storage burden on LumiaDB alone.

Why can’t I find a specific firmware or product code?

Some variants have not been archived yet, and others are still waiting to be verified and added. If you cannot find a firmware you need, use the contact page or contribute it through OSL if you already have the file.

How do I flash firmware from LumiaDB?

Start with the Guides page. LumiaDB hosts the files, but the actual flashing workflow depends on what you are trying to do. Most people use Windows Device Recovery Tool, WPInternals, or thor2 depending on the device and the task.

If you are not sure which path applies to your phone, avoid copying random commands and follow a guide that matches your exact goal first.

What is a donor FFU, and when do I need it?

A donor FFU is a helper firmware file used by some WPInternals bootloader-unlock workflows. It is not the normal FFU you would usually download to flash your own phone.

Only download it when a guide specifically tells you to use one. If a guide does not mention a donor FFU, you probably do not need it.

What is Contribute (OSL)?

OSL stands for Operation Save Lumia. It is the community upload path for preserving FFUs and related Lumia files, so missing variants can be archived and added back to the database over time.
